Knowledge is considered as the intellectual capital of an organization. This intellectual capital is in the form of data or information which when put in an organized manner can be used for major decision making processes. Knowledge managers help in tracking the intellectual worth of each person and help in the transference of knowledge from one level to the other in the knowledge supply chain.

Knowledge managers hence require tremendous understanding ability so that they can decipher the pattern in the data and move it up the ladder. The whole process of movement of data is executed in the form of a chain and called the knowledge supply chain. The movement of knowledge from one level to the next is carried on using certain rules and principles which the knowledge mangers adhere to.

The ability for deep understanding of employees is also required. They must be trained to understand that the transference of knowledge will help them to grow as well since knowledge grows when it is shared. This then promotes healthy competition as the work force understands the value of working in coordination. Hence the company can achieve more success by sharing this knowledge, which is then implemented into business policies. This knowledge is used for betterment of business as it has a lot of insight and innovation in it.

Knowledge supply chain refers to the strategy or the game plan of the company. This supply chain shows the plan of action used by the business house to reach its targeted goal. Precisely, it is also called the winning strategy used by the organization. The main goal of the supply chain is the transfer of knowledge for cognitive purpose in time. Supply chain also refers to the training process for expansion purposes. Further, it also refers to the integration of communication and training process to enhance the work of the commercial business concern. In this part of the supply chain, all the employees work as an integrated unit to achieve a single goal. However, there are some restrictions imposed as well. Hence, it is best executed when the correct people in the right places exchange knowledge for the common betterment of the company.

In the supply chain the transfer of knowledge is from one person to the other and the movement is up the ladder. The communication network is not one way as there is scope for clarification and consultation midway as well. In some cases the communication in the supply chain is further improved and is circular. This kind of communication connects all people with each other and hence the enhancement of the ideas is better. At the top there is the leader who coordinates all the processes. The person at the top is very understanding and has to leave scope for everyone to grow.

The knowledge supply chain is an integrated unit where the employees are involved in a fair game of knowledge transfer to grow collectively and individually.
